Singles:
Britney Spears: Don't let me be the last to know
She's back with this Ballard that brings a new meaning to the word 'SLUSH' and as for the saucy video, well, mom's not very happy.
Crazy Town: Butterfly
Tattooed hip-hop/rock outfit from L.A. launch their assault on the U.K. market following their No1 success in the US. Using a Red Hot Chill Peppers sample they weave it into a hypnotic red hot track.
Hi Gate: Gonna work it out
Workaday dance, based around the obligatory squelchy synth riff.
Run DMC: Rock Show
With a glut of softer hip-hop recipes around these days it's great to hear the genre reach its blistering potential. Rock Show combines serrated riffs with the rough raunchy vocals only Run DMC can deliver - can't wait for the album.
Albums:
Gorillaz: Gorillaz
Billed as a 'virtual' version of something real people can do well enough already it is natural to be sceptical.
Gorillaz are a virtual band and are as good as the real thing, that is because it is a name that shields some of the biggest names in innovative music, these include Blur's Damon Albarn and hip-hop's hero Dan Nakamura
Rod Stewart: Human
Rod in a quieter mood this time but still showing his newly adventurous spirit with the odd stab at R&B. A great voice but altogether a mixed bag of songs.
Ski Oakenfull: Life Changes
Dance sounds from a DJ who first appeared in the acid house era. Good in parts but not the album to change your life.
Clubbed - The compilation: Mixed by Judge Jules
After being voted No1 DJ Judge Jules popularity is at an all time high.
On the first side of this double CD Judge plays traditional favs also straying towards the heavier end of the spectrum. However on the second CD he clinically experiments with funk - alas though lacking the groove and warmth that make any house-funk fusion work.
